GAMING EDUCATION AND RESEARCH

The Center for Gaming and Tourism Studies integrates three main areas of work: teaching, research, and vocational training in the field of gaming tourism. It offers degree programs in gaming tourism and business management, conducts academic research, and provides vocational training courses. The center is dedicated to contributing to the development of Macau as a "World Tourism and Leisure Center" and to the growth of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area by cultivating high-quality talent in gaming management and delivering high-level research outcomes.

The center conducts research on topics related to gaming tourism, providing decision-making consultation services to the government, businesses, and society, while also promoting the enhancement of academic research standards in the regional gaming sector. In recent years, faculty members at the center have secured multiple research grants from universities and the Science and Technology Development Fund, among other funding sources. Several research outcomes have been published in internationally renowned academic journals or adopted by government entities and businesses. The center's publication, Global Gaming and Tourism Research, supports scientific decision-making for the government and recreation tourism enterprises and serves as a platform for communication in gaming and tourism research.

The center has maintained long-standing collaborative relationships with higher education institutions and industry partners both domestically and internationally. It has engaged in research projects and conferences with universities around the world, such as Peking University and Sun Yat-sen University in China, as well as with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the University of Nevada, Reno in the United States. Furthermore, the Center actively collaborates with global leisure equipment manufacturers, including Angel, Aristocrat, Light & Wonder, Suzohapp, and WDTS, and the “MPU-BMM Testing Centre for Gaming Devices” is located in CJT to provide a superior technological environment for teaching and research.

The center's teaching team is composed of professional teachers with rich experience in teaching, research, and industry, as well as professionals such as lawyers and accountants related to the industry. They frequently invite renowned scholars and industry experts from both domestic and international backgrounds to teach in Macao, organize exchange activities with the industry, and provide students with comprehensive development opportunities. The center features the world's largest and most well-equipped simulated entertainment venue, which is utilized not only for practical training of degree program students but also for offering training services to various sectors in Macao. In collaboration with government departments, the center provides training for government employees and residents of Macao. To date, it has conducted a total of 150,000 training courses, emphasizing the promotion of upward mobility among Macao residents.

Currently, many graduates are holding managerial positions in integrated tourism, leisure enterprises, and other industries in Macao, contributing to the economic development of Macao. The center launched Master's and Ph.D. programs in Business Administration in 2019 and 2024, respectively, aiming to provide Macao and the Greater Bay Area with higher education and research-oriented talents to supplement their development. The center will continue to enhance its teaching and research standards in alignment with national plans for the integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and with the Macao SAR government's strategy for moderate economic diversification. This will involve cultivating industry elites to serve the development of Macao and the Greater Bay Area.
